Fulham vs Liverpool Live Analysis! – by Joe Prince-Wright at Craven Cottage

full time: Fulham 2-2 Liverpool. They can! What a huge point for Fulham and you know what, they deserved it. It’s been a thrilling start to a busy Saturday in the Premier League.

Few minutes to go here. Can Fulham hold on?

Goal! Mohamed Salah equalized for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross is missed by Tim Ream and the ball bounces to Salah who taps home. What a game!

Fabio Carvalho, the teenage sensation who joined Liverpool from Fulham this summer, finished off the effort. Cue relief among the home fans.

Goal! Fulham lead 2-1. Mitrovic slots home the penalty kick after Virgil van Dijk is clearly fouled. Here are the incredible sights at Craven Cottage. Fulham fans are in dreamland.

Penalty to Fulham!

Goal! Darwin Nunez heads through the deflection with an audacious flick after great work from Mohamed Salah down the right. Liverpool equalised. Well and truly play at Craven Cottage.

shut up! Salah slots the ball across to Darwin Nunez but his back-heel finish is saved. The Fulham fans sat behind me: ‘This can’t last!’ Is it possible though? Liverpool are quite disappointed.

Post! How did it not go in!? USMNTTim Ream does brilliantly to win the ball back and climb forward, then Nieskens Kebano’s shot beats Alisson but hits the post and comes back. So a close 2nd to Fulham.

The start of the second half here at Craven Cottage. Fulham are sitting a bit deeper and Liverpool are trying to come out from the back.

Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott both came on early in the second half for Liverpool. Thiago is walking slowly from the injury.

half time: Fulham 1-0 Liverpool – Mitrovic’s header was the difference as Fulham really rattled Liverpool here. The Reds have come close on a few occasions, but Fulham have fully deserved their lead with new signings Pereira and Paulinho particularly impressive.

Post! Luis Diaz hits the post with a beautiful effort as he almost sneaks a shot from an impossible angle. Liverpool came so close to an equaliser.

It should be 1-1. Andy Robertson appears at the back post and his ball eludes the Liverpool players as he crosses the goal. A very good game, this one.

GOALLLL! It was coming. Aleksandar Mitrovic heads home at the back post to nod over Trent Alexander-Arnold. Fulham thoroughly deserved that lead. They are the best so far. The home fans are going absolutely bonkers here at Craven Cottage!

Block! Harrison Reid’s shot was twice met by Robertson and Mitrovic got on the end of a cross. Fulham have a real journey here. Liverpool have yet to go.

Fulham’s fans were, shall we say, ‘displeased with the officiating’ in this first half. Joel Matip got away with some questionable tackles. The hosts are still holding their own.

shut up! Tim Ream whipped in Fulham’s Pereira free-kick and it was off target, then Joao Palhinha’s effort was deflected wide. Good pressure from the host.

Luis Diaz has the ball in the back of the net with a lovely curling finish… but Andy Robertson is offside in the build-up. Decent finish from Diaz, and good from Liverpool.

Fulham have a real journey here. Antony Robinson has been flying down the left flank at every opportunity. Liverpool looked a bit flustered. The home fans are loving it.

Kick off: And a great chance for Fulham right away! Alexander-Arnold’s clearance falls straight to Mitrovic and he takes a few more touches, then pokes harmlessly wide. Mitro looked on, a little unsure whether to hit it or not.

The teams are out, it’s loud here at the cottage and we’re all set. let’s go

Hello and welcome to Craven Cottage! It’s a beautiful day on the banks of the River Thames. What a wonderful place to start the first Saturday of the new season.

Fulham team news, injuries, squad

Joe Bryan and Harry Wilson are out with wrist and knee problems respectively, while new signings Bernd Leno, Shane Duffy and Kevin Mbabu are on the bench, while other new boys Joao Palhinha and Andres Pereira start. USMNT duo Tim Ream and Anthony Robinson will start for Fulham.

Liverpool team news, injuries, squad

Jurgen Klopp has been mixing things up throughout pre-season but we saw that last weekend was very close to his best starting line-up in the Community Shield win over Manchester City.

Liverpool are without Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Caoimhin Kelleher and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but Kostas Simikas, Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate are all shaking off knocks. Alisson returns in goal after missing most of preseason with an abdominal problem.

Major storylines

It’s been a wild ride for Fulham in the last five seasons with two relegations and three promotions to the Premier League. Life at Craven Cottage is dull. The Serbian goal machine (at least in the second tier) is loaded with crosses and hopes that he can finally be more fruitful in the Premier League are pinned on Aleksandar Mitrovic once again. Marco Silva has been outspoken about Fulham not signing a lot this summer and staying would be a huge achievement. Silva likes to counter-attack and needs a good start to the season to build positive vibes. Sidenote: Fulhamerica is still going strong this season with Tim Ream and Anthony Robinson playing key roles.

Liverpool have had a pretty decent and quiet offseason overall. They sold Sadio Mane at the start of the summer but look to have club-record signing Darwin Nunez as the next forward star at Anfield. And oh, they managed to sign Mohamed Salah to a new long-term contract. Klopp’s side have had some strange results in pre-season but they are warming up well for the new campaign and the big questions are how Nunez, Diaz and Salah will slot into the forward trio and how much the likes of Jordan Henderson will gas up. And Thiago Alcanatara has left in the tank to make another push for all four trophies.
