GMC has announced the launch of new customization options for Hummer EV’s current reservation holders before issuing their official orders. Additionally, the news comes with the warning that any Hummer EV orders placed after today will see significant price increases for the base MSRP.
The GMC Hummer EV is the new all-electric version of the famous Gas Guzzler, which last came out of the assembly line in 2010. The public took a first look at GMC’s Hummer EV in the fall of 2020 as part of parent company GM’s “Everybody In”. Electrification technique.
At the time, the GMC shared a few specs and prices that included multiple trims and aside from the “crab-walk” capability. Additionally, we learned that GMC’s new Hummer will be the first pickup, then the SUV version in 2023.
At the end of December 2021, the first deliveries of the Hummer EV pickup for reservation holders began to arrive … or let’s say we were reserved. Following GM’s Q4 2021 earnings report, we learned that GMC delivered just one electric Hummer last year.
Deliveries will continue until 2022 as GMC increases its assembly lines to support all-electric models such as the GMC Hummer EV. With more than 75,000 reservations so far, current customers will soon be able to start customizing their Hummer EVs before their purchase.
However, any customer is still considering a reservation to avoid the upcoming price hike.
Book your Hummer EV before raising the price tomorrow
Today, GMC announces new customizations available for Hummer EV 3ˣ Reservation Holders, allowing them to choose the add-ons and packages they want before officially placing their orders.
According to American automakers, customizable add-ons now include:
- New exterior paint colors
- Extreme Off-Road Package
- 24-Module Battery Pack Upgrade
- “What’s to Freedom” enables 0-60mph acceleration in about 3 seconds
As always, the price of the options and packages is added to the original manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). More information on the options and packaging available will soon be available to EV 3ˣ customers.
Additionally, GMC has shared that it will increase the MSRP of all new Hummer EV reservations this month. According to the automaker, it currently has more than 77,500 total reservations on all versions of the Hummer EV pickup and SUV.
For those who currently have reservations, their MSRP is locked. However, any new Hummer EV reservations made on or after June 18 (tomorrow) will include a $ 6,250 increase to the base MSRP. The GMC has identified “commodity parts pricing, technology and logistics” as the cause of the price increase.
