Wimbledon 2022: Player Rankings, Predictions

As usual, the 2022 Wimbledon Tournament is drawing some of the best tennis players in the world.

The return of Serena Williams is a welcome surprise. The seven-time Wimbledon champion has not played a competitive singles match in Wimbledon last year because of a hamstring injury. Her ranking is No. 1. Dropped to 1,204, but, if they win this year’s tournament, it will be their 24th Grand Slam title.

Joining the No. 1 women’s rank is Iga Svitek after winning the French Open earlier this month. Annette Conteveit, Ones Jaber and Paula Badosa currently rank behind Zviatec in the ranking.

Novak Djokovic is ranked No. 1 in the men’s division, behind Rafael Nadal, this year’s men’s French Open champion. Other contenders with a decent shot at the trophy include Matteo Berettini, Carlos Alcaraz and Felix Auger

Notable absentees include Russian players Daniel Medvedev (Men’s World No. 1) and Arena Sabalenka (Women’s World No. 6). Wimbledon announced in April that it would not allow any Russian players to compete in light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
