After an epic collaboration with Canadian singer-songwriter The Grand Mess, indie pop artist Lorelei Marcell is back with a vibrant and electrifying new sound in “Nothing Hurts Better”. After first moving to Los Angeles, Lorelei remembers her early moments as difficult and anxious: everything seemed to move so fast but the days and weeks themselves felt so long. It was the first time she had walked away from her family and adapting wasn’t as easy as she would have hoped. Big changes in her life are never easy, but Lorelei remembers reconnecting with an old friend of hers for a session in the studio and slowly, it all started to feel a little more like home. The session was smooth and the track was something that couldn’t be ignored. She knew at that point that she absolutely needed to share this song with the City of Angels.
“Nothing looks the same anymore, that’s it, have we learned? We’ll never stop it back and forth, Nothing hurts anymore – Loving you that way” ~ Nothing hurts better
Collaboration is the soul of so many songs we know and love. The beauty of her collaboration with Gavin Hudner helped bring her out of one of her darkest places by turning her feelings into art. Grateful for the connection she has made, “Nothing Hurts Better” marks an important chapter in the young musician’s life and we are so grateful to know about her that she helped her start her new journey on the right foot. Complete with electric instrumentation and slender vocals reminiscent of a modern Imogen Heap, Lorelei’s single stuns and hopefully inspires other artists to persevere even in their darkest days.
Born outside Philadelphia, Lorelei grew up in a suburb of Boston and now resides in Los Angeles, California. The young pop artist has not only collected over a million cumulative streams independently, but has also attracted the likes of GRAMMY Award-nominated singer-songwriter JHart. Written together with Valerie Broussard [Kygo, Galantis]Stefan lett [One Direction, Andy Grammar]and Shannon McArthur [Dashboard Confessional], “Dreamin About You” has maintained its momentum with nearly 300,000 total on-demand streams. Lorelei’s music continues to defy both era and categorization. Blending R&B influence with mainstream indie pop sound, her talents are constantly at the fore and her new single “Nothing Hurts Better” certainly doesn’t disappoint.
