Kalilo is on this Greek island, and it’s worth the price

Carved out of local rock, Calilo is surrounded by the Sayan Sea, a 1,000-acre protected area and six miles of golden sand beach. This 30-suite retreat stands on the peaceful side of Ios, far from the more bustling islands of Mykonos and Santorini, a beautiful island in the Cyclades. Imagine a tranquil oasis of art and nature in the heart of a historic landscape lined with olive trees.

It all started with one family’s dream, and now Calilo is a tranquil retreat and innovative conservation initiative. Their vision as a family is to preserve, protect and nurture this fascinating land and allow others to experience the hypnotic magic of the island and share in the family dream of living there. Every aspect of the home, from its stunning architecture and interior design to its impressive art and installation pieces, is an expression of this vision.

Attractive rock pools at the resort

Three different pool spaces, each built into a natural rock environment and offering a unique beach and dining experience, can be found in a remote area with sea views. Often sheltered from the sun and wind by surrounding vegetation, the pools are ideal for small gatherings of 30-50 people who value privacy. Two of the Dreamer’s Heart Rock pools are heart-shaped, while the third is more traditionally round.

Private bathrooms and kitchens, as well as a sitting area with a dining table, a butler for cooking and bottle service, massage treatments and everything from swinging double beds to Calilo’s signature swings for relaxation are included. Rock pools are beautiful settings for any celebration and are trendy for wedding proposals and bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Hotel guests have first dibs on reservations, subject to need and availability. Initial rental fees for the facility and staff start at 600 EUR. Built from quarried and molded natural rock, the rock pools are a testament to the family’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty of Ios. In 2022, Calilo plans to unveil 12 different rock pools, increasing the number of luxury features available to guests.
