Greensboro, NC (WGHP) – A woman’s sense of security was shattered when a peaceful afternoon stroll through the popular Greensboro park took a terrible and disturbing turn.
It was reported that a man had exposed her, and now Greensboro police are trying to find him before doing it again.
It happened around 4:30 pm on Saturday evening at Price Park on New Garden Road in the northwest corner of the city.
The victim asked FOX8 not to reveal her identity. She wants people to pay attention if they plan to visit the park.
“I’m annoyed, I’m angry and I think the police take it seriously,” he said.
The victim told FOX8 that the man passed by while walking her dog. She said he stopped and asked her to pet her dog. The pleasant exchange took moments after they went in different directions.
“I realized he was behind me. He wasn’t sure how he got there. He didn’t really pay much attention. It made me nervous,” he said.
She could see that he was following a few feet back.
The victim told FOX8 that the man was shirtless and had tattoos on his chest and arms. She said he wore sandals with athletic shorts, socks and had gold rimmed glasses.
“He turned to see where he was, and he was right there, open and active,” he said.
Then she ran away from the criminal.
“I picked up the dog and he said, ‘Can you see me for a few minutes,’ and I hurried off,” he said. “I was a little scared because I didn’t know who this fool was, but mostly I was mad as I moved away. I was angry.”
They are worried that this may happen again on the path used by Kathleen Clay Edwards Library visitors and students of Jefferson Elementary School.
“The school is right there,” she said. “It touches everything, physically touches the paths back there.”
She hopes the perpetrator gets caught and her sense of security is restored.
“Anyone who does that kind of work has no concern for people’s reaction. They’re interested in their needs, whatever it may be,” he said. “You have to take him and put him somewhere, where he can’t keep up because if nothing else, it’s disgusting.”
The victim told FOX8 she had never seen the man on the road before. He said he would not let the incident go by the wayside.
Greensboro police are investigating the matter.
